RUN: #677 RUN SITE: Maracas
HARES: The Life Guard Crew SCRIBE: Dave Blunden
DATE:
Having only recently returned to
Arriving at the run site a bit early, the only
hasher to be seen was “Red Eye” sitting on his pick-up, beer in hand, as is
customary.
When I first met Justin in
The off started like everyone thought, this was
going to be a stroll in the Park. We
kinda ambled up the hill to the main road at a leisurely pace, before the trail
was found on the beach and we all broke into a kinda trot. We still not taking this seriously, as we
trotted onto the road and down to the end of the beach facility.
At the first check, a road could be glimpsed
through the trees going steeply up the first hill on the right and anyone who
knows Peter Dixon just knew where we were headed. Up,Up,Up a bit of a shog up to the ridge,
Then a real steep and tricky descent due to the dampness of the soil. A few scratches, grazes and bruised bums were
picked up here, then onto a road for a short jog, then thru some gardens and
the next check. The trail took us
upstream, a nice refreshing trot to the next check at the bridge.
The Pack came back together here whilst various
false trails were checked. A virgin,
upon hearing someone suggest the trail could be a back check, enquired which
way is a back check? The informed answer came back, that it depends which way
you facing. A member of MENSA no doubt.
Once the trail was found that was pretty much the
last we all saw of each other apart from the man or gal in front of you. It became a real tough hike with a seemingly
never ending ascent. With little to hold
onto and again very slippery mud, it made the ascent even more grueling. The descent became quite dangerous at times,
again due to very little vegetation to hold onto and the slippery trail. Finally we hit the track and with what little
energy we had left, Lorin, Mark and myself jogged down to the ON IN from here a
leg stretch to home.
A number of hashers took a cooling sea bath before
participating in the group practice of consuming copious amounts of Neck
oil. Finally, a number of Hardy Hashers,
Nevy, Mark, Mervyn, The Master, The Hares and a few others moved on to
“OROPENDOLA” Bar where we partook in consuming more Neck Oil and ole talk.
A tough hash, but a good work out and an excellent
after hash lime. ON ON

No more to
go suckers! Run #677, set by "The Mountain Goat Posse", was more
pleasant than expected seeing that some seasoned hashers stayed away, knowing
who the hares were. First some slippery downhill terrain being grabbed by vines
then a treacherous uphill dodging falling boulders. It brought back memories of
Hashing in the old days.

Nominees
for Poofter:
Miraculously there were four Poofter shirts and four nominees, Dave Esdale for
coming to the run-site to do a kayak and then liming with the Hashers after.
Martin and Gerry for wondering why they were not called for Poofter all year.
Martin managed to keep his shirt clean, and Robert Bermudez for behaving badly
all year and he again behaved very badly by emptying his down-down on the HM.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED HASHING IN 2007, KEEP ON COMING IN
2008, ENJOY THE PARTY AND THE REST OF THE YEAR AND ALL THE BEST IN 2008!
